What We Collect

BaZi Compass collects the following information when you create an account:

• Email address (for authentication)
• Birth date, time, and city (for chart calculation)
• Gender (optional, for luck pillar direction)
• Display name (optional, shown to people you invite)

How Your Data Is Used

Your birth data is processed by our chart calculation engine to compute your Four Pillars, element balance, luck pillars, and other BaZi metrics. This data is also sent to a large language model (LLM) provider to generate your personal reading and answer consultation questions.

Your birth data and readings are used solely to provide you with BaZi analysis. We never share your birth data, readings, or account details with advertisers, and we do not sell your personal information.

Advertising & Cookies

BaZi Compass is free and supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads on the web app. To serve and measure ads, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies, and may collect device and usage information such as your IP address and interactions with ads. This advertising data is handled by Google, not shared with us in a personally identifiable form, and is never linked to your birth data or readings.

Where required by law (for example in the EU, UK, and California), you will be asked for consent or given choices about personalized advertising. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and manage ad personalization in your Google account settings.

Data Storage

Your account and profile data are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Supabase. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth using email one-time passwords (no passwords are stored). All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS.

Third-Party Services

We use third-party LLM providers (such as Anthropic or OpenAI) to generate personal readings and consultation responses. Your chart data is sent to these providers only for the purpose of generating your reading. We do not sell, share, or provide your personal data to any third party for their own use.

Compatibility & Invites

When you invite someone for a compatibility reading, they provide their own birth data. Both parties can see the compatibility analysis. Invite recipients must sign in and consent before their data is shared.

Data Deletion

You can delete your profile and all associated data at any time from the Settings menu in the app. This permanently removes your birth data, readings, conversations, and connections.
